I Corinthians 13:4-8 - Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy; is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited - arrogant and inflated with pride; it is not rude (unmannerly), and does not act unbecomingly. Love [God's love in us] does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it - pays no attention to a suffered wrong. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances and it endures everything without weakening. Love never fails.

That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things - that she might be holy and faultless. Even so, husbands should love their wives as being in a sense their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, because we are members of His body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. this mystery is very great, but I speak concerning the relation of Christ and the church. However, let each man of you without exception love his wife as being in a sense his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband - that she notices him, regards him, venerates and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly.

For then He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Then He will cover you with His pinions and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow of the wicked that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be, yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High as you witness the reward of the wicked. (1) I counsel the leaders among you as a fellow elder and eyewitness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a sharer in the glory that is about to be revealed:
(2) Tend the flock of God that is yours responsibility, not by coercion or constraint, but willingly; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits belonging to the office, but eagerly and cheerfully;
(3) Not domineering as arrogant or overbearing dictators over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.
(4) And when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror's crown of glory.
(5) Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
(6) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,
(7) Casting all your cares and worries upon Him, for He cares for you affectionately.
(8) Be well balanced, be vigilant and cautious at all times; for your enemy, the devil, roams about like a roaring lion, seeking those whom he may devour.
(9) Withstand him; be firm in faith, knowing the the same sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood throughout the world.
